Reading Room

The NIKH operates a reading in the ‘Saryogwan’ Building where visitors can gain access to the books, documents, and microfilms the digitalized items which the NIKH holds. There is an open stack in this reading room which displays serial publications including journals, reference books, and the select books that the NIKH published. Rare books and documents of high historiographical value are preserved in a closed stack together with general books.

Open Hours
  • 09:00 a.m. ~ 17:30 p.m. (closed for lunch at 12:00 p.m.~13:00 p.m.) on Monday through Friday
  • Access Information: Fill out and submit the application form.
  • Use of laptops are allowed in all stacks and reading rooms.
Copying Service
  • General collection: 50 won (Black and White) and 100 won (color) per page.
  • Microfilm collection: 150 won per page.
National Foundation Memorial Hall

The KNIH operates a museum, tentatively called the National Foundation Memorial Hall, in the Saryogwan Building. This museum exhibits the still photos, documents, and relics which illustrate the background of the birth of the Republic of Korea as well as the traditional culture and lifestyle of the Korean people in pre-modern times.
